The Witch's Store
By Teena Verma
Daydreaming about who I want to be envelopes me with an air of comfort and peace. As someone who has spent her life evading attention, I find solace in living life remotely and being surrounded by portals to different worlds. I imagine myself running a small shop filled with vinyl records, faintly dust-covered books, and video cassettes that can only be rented. The shop will be of just the perfect size that would let me be vigilant and keep an eye on everything without having to move away from the counter. The days will pass with me listening to music or maybe watching something with my favorite customer. Just me spending my days in my small but warm shop interrupted occasionally by the mellifluous ringing of the wind chimes as and when someone walks in. But when the sun sets and everyone leaves, I will produce my witchcraft paraphernalia from the secret drawer. Filling the room with whiffs of scented candles, rose water, herbs, and incense sticks, I'd chant spells that will grant me access to the different realities I spend my days learning about. I would visit these worlds just so I can be a little closer to the people painted in the movies, scratched on the pages, and hummed in the lyrics. I would sit across from them and cry with them as they mourn their loss, or maybe dance with them as the music pierces through the wall separating us. But everything comes at the cost of something right? Getting noticed in their world would mean being locked in there forever. When I daydream about who I want to be, I think of putting at stake my customary life to be close to someone else. When I daydream about who I want to be, I think of living many lives in one.

The Detective Dream
By Avishek Sarkar
In my daydream fantasy world, I'd like to be a detective, whose life never stops. The stakes are always high, lives are on the line and every second is crucial and brings in new challenges, be it catching a criminal, tracing a robbery, or solving a crime, there's always something to look forward to. It involves working for the greater good. Tracing footprints, examining thumbprints, questioning witnesses, collecting evidence and a lot of other fascinating and extraordinary things are involved in this profession. Life is at its prime. Living every moment, and being indulged in what I love to do. The thrill is all I yearn for- using my mind to decode signs and patterns, spending hours to get the answers to unanswered questions, deciphering witty riddles, and delving deep into the world of mischief and mystery. I will live my own way, choose a different life- away from society and dwell in my own world. I will find joy in the jigsaws and the mazes, solace in the conspiracies and complications. The job requires analytical skills, deductive reasoning, an informed mind, and a patient personality. The temperament and integrity a detective has are unmatchable. The satisfaction after solving a case will be immeasurable. There will be ups and downs, but that's the best part of it. There will be a constant urge to find something that others might have overlooked and persistent implementation of knowledge. It’s a "you only live once" life full of danger and adventure.

The Fearless Princess
By Aashi Singh
When it comes to daydreaming about my character in some mystical world, I imagine myself as a princess named Amyra, who lives in an enchanting land full of magic and wonder. She is not your stereotypical princess waiting to be married to some prince. Instead, she is a fierce warrior who is capable of protecting her kingdom and her people. She spends her time going on dangerous quests and fighting evil beings who pose a threat to the safety of her land. While growing up, she was trained in the study of art, music, and literature as well as the ability to use weapons, fight wars and slay monsters. She is blessed by the Greek God, Apollo and is therefore skilled in archery and poetry. Unafraid to be herself, she always speaks her mind which sometimes lands her in trouble but that does not stop her from speaking her truth. She has fought in many battles and though she has won many of them, it has been at the cost of people she loved. She carries her scars with pride and turns her pain into poetry. Her life is full of peril and uncertainty but she finds joy in not knowing what the future holds. She never intends to marry and wishes to spend her life with her sister, Arika, who has been with her throughout the good and the bad.
