Cottage Core

Cottage core is a whimsical aesthetic that became popular through the app TikTok but other sources say the origins of this aesthetic dates back to the 2010s when Tumblr was the persistent app for fashion and lifestyle fanatics. The cottage core aesthetic can be described as what people envision a Jane Austin novel will look like or perhaps how other fantasies such as fairy tales can be enacted through garments and articles of clothing in contemporary times.

Cottage core itself has many sub cores such as Fairy core, Goblin fore, and even Granny core although all these sound rather weird the basic principles of the sub cores are the same which are loose fittings and floral patterns, Keya says that cottage core is the perfect aesthetic for people who were into the bohemian dress code that was prominent in the 2015’s and Coachella gatherings. At its extreme, its aim is to retreat back to a more rural pre-industrialization way of life perhaps the main goal for those who are avid followers of the cottage core.
